  • We're all a little Quirky

So this seems like fun...I wasn't tagged but I like making lists so here goes:

The Rules: Each player of this game starts with the six weird things about you. People who get tagged need to write a blog of their own six weird things as well. In the end, you need to choose six people to be tagged and list their names. Don't forget to leave a comment that says you are tagged in their comments and tell them to read your blog. Remember copy and paste this so as to state the rules clearly.

    1. I love playing with elbows and having my elbows played with (includes light nibbling).

    2. I secretly like bad smells and I will keep smelling it over and over again, squealing about how bad it smells.  And then I'll offer you to smell it too.

    3. When I get sleepy I tickle my arms and pat my own head.

    4. My nose gets stuffy at night whether I have a cold or not.

    5. When it's time to change my disposable contacts, I leave the old pair on the bathroom counter so the next day I can crackle them.  I call this "crunchies."

    6. For as long as I can remember, I have been doing ice pillow and ice blanket.  The concept is fairly simple.  I line up my pillows against the wall to chill them.  Then I squeeze the coldness out of them.  When you use more than one pillow, this is called assembly line ice pillows.  Ice blanket is when you flip the comforter back and forth.  I don't like how Paul lies there and doesn't help me with either of these things but reaps all of the benefits.

I tag mishmash, jeanxbeanx, odirtykim, xan_ga_spy, bekkop, swest, evanzdad, hannah_k, cindygirl1

  • Mr. Chompers

It's really amazing how one day you wake up and your baby has 8 teeth and is crawling all over the floor like a puppy.  Call me insensitive but I really think Jake is like a puppy.  He eats, poops, sleeps, cries, and chews on everything.  Now that he's crawling (yay!! finally forwards!!!) he's getting into everything and chewing wires, paper, and anything he can find on the floor.  I guess we need to start vacuuming on a regular basis. DARN.

Why does he have 8 teeth?  You would think with that many teeth he would like chewing food but he's terrified.  He should be eating steaks but noooooooo our Mr. Chompers cant seem to graduate from Stage 3 foods.  My little fussy pants puppy...I can't believe you're turning 1 already!!

Here's recent pics of Mr. Chompers.

We realized how long his hair was so Jakey and I took some silly pics:

Then I took him in for his first haircut and he was SUCH a good boy:

  • First 2007 Entry

I promised I would be better at this and wow it's almost the end of Feb and I haven't posted once.  Where to start?  Ummm...I do better with lists.

    1.  Jakey's first Christmas was great.  It was pretty cold but we got out one day and took him to the Rockefeller tree and he was amazed by all of the lights and people.  Then mommy took him to the Saks sale and he and daddy got really annoyed.

    2.  New years was sooooooo relaxing.  I had a pathetic buzz from a glass and a half of wine and drunk text messaged people and went to bed at 1.  VERY different from my last 5 new years....

    3.  Ever since the ball dropped I have been an absolute slave to the man.  I was in Dallas for 10 days straight.  Paul was an amazing daddy to Jakey and they had good male bonding time.  I have been working non-stop and I think I have to work again this weekend.  I logged my hours last week and I worked 110.5...that's just wrong.  When I got back from Dallas, Jakey didn't recognize me...I cried.

    4.  My parents came to visit this past weekend.  It was great seeing my mom and dad.  My dad won't be able to make it for Jakey's 1st birthday so he decided to make a trip this month.  He brought a really cute hanbok for Jakey.  We didn't do much because of the snow/ice storm that hit DC this week.

    5.  I have to go to Dallas for work again this Tues-Thurs...then it's my annual all girls Vegas trip.  This is a UCLA tradition that we've been keeping alive and we will continue it into our mid-40s.  Who cares if we're wrinkly and still shopping at Forever 21!!  I missed out last year because I was preggo but I will make up for it this trip.  I can't wait!!

    6.  My next big project is planning Jakey's 1st birthday.  I am so excited.  I took pictures of him for his invitation so I will be ordering them soon.  I can't believe he's already turning 1.  My baby is growing so quickly!

  • James Kim

James Kim and his family are close family friends of my parents.  My mom called me on Sunday to tell me that James and his family were missing since Thanksgiving and that his parents flew out to Oregon to help with the search and rescue.  I was so happy to hear that Kati and the girls were found on Monday and we were all anticipating that James would be found within hours.  Unfortunately, on Wednesday they announced that James Kim was found dead.

I can't even imagine what his family is going through.  I have read so many things online and have watched so much of the media coverage.  I am so proud of James.  There are mixed opinions out there which is expected but it seems like the nation was holding its breath when James was still missing.  He touched so many peoples' hearts through his self-less act and heroism.

It has been a hard couple of days but I pray for his wife and 2 daughters.  They will not grow up with their father but they will always know that he was a brave, wonderful man who gave his life to save theirs.  Please stay safe and I pray for all of you during the holidays.

  • Daddy's Birthday to Baby's First Thanksgiving

It's been a while since I last posted so here's a quick recap of what's been going on:

    1.  Paul's 29th birthday dinner was great!  I managed to cook all of the food and one of the guys even thought I was an excellent chef :).  Poor Jakey had to go to bed so he couldn't join us for daddy's birthday dinner but next time for sure!

    2.  We went to Evan's first birthday in Toledo.  This was a huge event because it was the first time Evan and Jake met each other.  They are best friends!!  Evan was SO addorable.  He has grown so much since the first time I met him in March.  He's going to be a heartbreaker for sure!  Unfortunately the New Balances that we bought him were too small but don't you worry, Auntie Jean is looking for a cooler better pair for you!

    3.  I went to Dallas AGAIN for a couple of days but in time to pack for a week in LA.  I flew back on Wednesday to ensure enough time to do laundry and get everything organized.

    4.  We were in LA for Jakey's first Thanksgiving.  He was an absolute angel on the plane ride, both there and back.  He slept for half the flight each way and he played for the rest of the time.  Our flight to LA would have been literally perfect if he hadn't pooped all over his pants when we landed but I blame Pampers for that one, not Jakey.  He was still in a great mood.  I on the other hand wanted to die (guess whose lap he was sitting in).

My dad came from Korea on the Monday before Thanksgiving and immediately attached himself to Jakey.  This was great for us because both of them were jet-lagged.  Jakey wanted to sleep at 3:30 in the afternoon and wake up at 3:30 the next morning.  Grandpa Baik also couldn't sleep at 3 am so he played with Jake.  They are perfect together.

Thanksgiving was definitely a feast.  We made a HUGE meal.  This year my mom got a break and all of the kids cooked instead.  We made salad, cheesy corn pudding, brown sugar walnut squash, ham, garlic mashed potatoes, cous cous, egg noddles with sage butter cream sauce, pumpkin pie and cheesecake.  It was A LOT of food.  It was great cooking with my siblings and Paul.  This year's Thanksgiving was bittersweet.  There was so much to be thankful for because we added a new addition to the family.  I remember last Thanksgiving when I was barely pregnant and wondering what the baby would look like.  This year Jakey was at the dinner table with us.  It was awesome.  It was also kind of sad because it was our last Thanksgiving at home in LA.  My mom is planning to sell the house next spring and move to Korea by the summer to be with my dad.  There's much to be thankful for in that too...they will be together and it means that we are all grown up.  I don't think it has fully hit me yet.  It also means that future Thanksgivings will be at OUR house.  WOW that makes me feel like an adult.  My siblings will be coming over to our place for the holidays.  I wonder how different that's going to be.  Jakey will be running around...

Overall it was a great trip to LA...we saw friends and spent a lot of quality family time.  Oh on Friday I got a really interesting haircut.  I like to call it a neo-mullet.  It looked a lot better on my sister than me.  I'm pulling on it so it will grow faster...

I still have to upload pictures from our trip (we didn't take as many as I had hoped to) but I'll do that next post.
